2008 Womens' President's Message The Womens’ Division of the Ken-Wo Golf and Country Club provides opportunities to the women members of the club for golfing in social and competitive situations. Each year a 9-hole scramble is organized for the opening and the closing of the season, followed by a business meeting and dinner. In the fall, the trophies are presented to those who won competitions over the season. Thursday mornings at Ken-Wo are reserved for the women and various competitions and casual rounds are held. The match committee makes up the draw and posts it by Monday morning each week. Opportunities to visit other clubs are made available to our members through home-and-home matches with golfers from Paragon and Oakfield. Each June, the Womens’ Division hosts the Scramble for Cancer Care, a charity event which supports the cancer navigation program at the Valley Regional Hospital. Golfers from clubs across the province join the Ken-Wo women to support this worthy cause. The women’s locker room in the ground floor of Ken-Wo has bulletin boards displaying posters of various golfing events in the province and has reference material for members as well. In August, a two-day club championship is held with about 50 women competing. ‘Niners’ (those who prefer to play only nine holes) enjoy golfing and competing in this event along with the 18-holers.
